Directed by Guy Ritchie

Shout out to Guy Ritchie for coming out of hiding and directing the same banger movies every two years. There's something comforting about a Guy Ritchie film. Even when the stories get messy, his movies usually have enough style, charisma, and slick editing to keep you entertained. In the Grey is no exception.

It stars Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal (honestly, casting Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill in a movie is genius), and Eiza González. The film follows a team of operatives tasked with recovering billions stolen by a dangerous figure. The premise itself isn't particularly groundbreaking, but Ritchie injects enough personality into the material to make it an enjoyable ride.

The chemistry between the cast is easily one of the film's greatest strengths. Jake Gyllenhaal brings his usual charm, while Henry Cavill once again proves he has a commanding screen presence. Together, the trio make for compelling leads that carry the movie even when the plot occasionally loses focus.

Visually, In the Grey has everything fans have come to expect from Ritchie: stylish action, beautiful locations, quick-witted dialogue, and a fast pace that rarely allows the film to overstay its welcome.

At the end of the day, it’s pretty simple...put together an awesome, great-looking cast; plan a heist in a highly stylistic way for 60 minutes; have a decent payoff, and you've got a sturdy, fun little movie. An easy and enjoyable watch, very cool presentation and fun characters everywhere. Not Guy Ritchie’s best but a fun ride regardless, but it's another reminder of why his brand of filmmaking remains so entertaining.

New Movie Friday

We're officially in the middle of summer movie season. Here are movies hitting theatres this Friday: June 12, 2026

Disclosure Day (dir. by Steven Spielberg)

It's been 8 long years since we had a sci-fi movie directed by the GOAT himself, Steven Spielberg.

The Furious (dir. by Kenji Tanigaki)

Critics are calling this Hong Kong movie "The Best Action Movie of the Decade"; it's even being compared to The Raid. The film follows Wang Wei who, after his daughter Rainy is abducted, is thrust into a deadly underworld of corruption and violence. His only ally is Navin, a relentless journalist haunted by his own past. Together, they fight their way through an international criminal network in a desperate bid to save Rainy and uncover the truth.

I'm Ademide, a Visual designer and lifelong movie lover. I've been obsessed with cinema and pop culture for as long as I can remember. Growing up, movies weren't just entertainment for me they were worlds I could get lost in, and that curiosity eventually turned into a genuine appreciation for storytelling and filmmaking

These days, I'm always on the lookout for something worth watching, whether it's a blockbuster, an underrated gem, or the latest show everyone's talking about. Through my reviews, I hope to share my thoughts, celebrate great stories, and connect with people who love film just as much as I do.
