In a world where a BSc, PH. D, or for my gentlefolk, an M.R.S is all the pomp, shimmer and shine, the name of Jesus calls us to a higher title…Children of God. The psalmist writes in Psalms 8:5 saying, “Who is man that you make us a little lower than the Elohim?” That is our placement as the sons of the Most High; we enter boldly into the throne room of grace because we have been adopted. In simple terms, no matter what you achieve in this world, it will never come close to the gift that is SALVATION.

Now you might think “of course, I know that duh”, but the true test of this knowledge comes when you don’t receive that promotion at work, when you don’t get THAT job, the one you prayed and fasted for, when your visa application has been denied for the 3rd time in a row, or maybe the school prefectship you were’nt selected for. The truth is, disappointment is an easier pill to swallow without the dose of rejection that follows. The actual sting is the quiet reminder at the end of that annoying email that says “you are not enough”: your certification, skills, and everything you’ve earned up until this very moment are simply not enough to earn you this title. It is in these moments that we must call the devil what he is; A LIAR. Because THE BLOOD OF JESUS MAKES YOU WORTHY, and if you have been made worthy to sit in the heavenlys, then what is a title that will go unremembered in the next 100 years or less?

If you have learned nothing from the generations above us, learn this today: EVERYTHING FADES AWAY, and only The Word of God remains. The Word of God, which says in the book Isaiah 43:1 “YOU ARE MINE”, and that is much better than any position, award or title we could ever receive.
